Navy Federal Credit Union, USAA, United States Senate Federal Credit Union, and others offer financial assistance to their members in the event of a government shutdown or other hardship. Reach out to your bank and other creditors early to find out if they have an assistance program.
CDC Federal Credit Union is offering a furlough line of credit to assist members with existing direct deposit during the shutdown. The line of credit limit is 1 month of new pay deposited into a CDCFCU account, and has 0% interest for 60 days, no payments for 60 days, and no fees. To apply, call CDCFCU at 800-245-9655.
Taking out a TSP loan may be an option if you need financial assistance during a shutdown. Learn more on the TSP website.
