Fired But Fighting Statement on June 11 Reinstatements:
We Will Not Be Distracted

Fired But Fighting and our allies are proud of the work we have done to bring awareness to CDC’s life-saving work. The announcement of the reported RIF rescissions, meaning valuable CDC workers are being brought back, shows that the American people value science. The Fired But Fighting goal has always been that CDC continue the critical nature of its work, enabling public servants to carry on working for communities, regardless of population size, political affiliation, or wealth. However, we continue to be disappointed and horrified by Sec. Kennedy and the Trump administration, as they continue their mission of dismantling public health.

We will not be distracted. Bringing a few hundred employees back to work out of thousands fired is a start, but there are still countless programs at CDC that have been cut. This will no doubt lead to increased disease and preventable deaths. These selected reinstatements do not lessen the financial and public health damage already done, including the recent and unprecedented firing of the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices). As long as this administration continues to gamble with the health and security of Americans, our fight for public health continues despite their best efforts to silence us and other dedicated public health servants.
