Fired But Fighting Statement on the Firings of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Members
On June 9, 2025, Sec. Kennedy announced the firing of every single member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). This action is the single most devastating move to undermine life-saving vaccines yet taken by this anti-science administration. The firing of all ACIP members threatens vaccinations and will undermine all vaccine development, including life-saving vaccines for cancer.
Fired But Fighting and public health officials across the country resoundingly reject Sec. Kennedy’s claims and condemn him and the Trump Administration for dismantling ACIP. In an opinion piece, published in the Wall Street Journal, Sec. Kennedy falsely claims that the members of this committee are corrupt. Further, physicians, families, insurance companies, travelers, Medicare, and Medicaid, rely on ACIP vaccine recommendations and guidance. The sweeping removal of experts and professionals will make our children sicker, our country weaker, and result in the deaths of adults and children.
Sec. Kennedy has spent decades sowing doubt about vaccines and the medical community, using his money and his namesake to influence everyday Americans - selling them wellness supplements, spreading dangerous lies and manufactured anti-science propaganda, and profiting off of vaccine-related lawsuits. Let us be clear, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is not a doctor, he has no background or credible knowledge in public health - he states his opinions as facts, intentionally misinterprets scientific studies, and is a liar. He will fill the vacant seats with anti-science loyalists and turn ACIP into a weapon for pushing his anti-vaccine agenda. Allowing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Nation's public health is disastrous. He is not the person for this job, he has shown us this time and time again. He must resign.
Fired But Fighting, along with other public health professionals, demand Sen. Cassidy and other members of congress take action to impeach Sec. Kennedy if he refuses to resign. We must hold our government accountable - call your representatives, and flood social media demanding that congress take action against this threat to domestic health.
